Description

Magnum needles are among the most commonly used tattoo needles today. Also known as magnum shaders or just magnums, they consist of two stacked layers of needle points grouped together in a curved or flat configuration. When reading different magnum sizes (5M, 7M, 9M, and others), note that the numeral indicates the number of needle points in the group. Magnum needles are used for a variety of techniques and applications:

Permanent Makeup (PMU)

Lipstick Effect Lips: When used in PMU lip procedures, magnum needles are especially useful for achieving the so-called “lipstick effect.” Technicians can use it to layer and blend colors, creating fuller and more defined lips, with a tint that’s similar to what lipsticks provide.

Brow Work: Magnum needles are preferred for eyebrow procedures on challenging skin types. Their large size and configuration increase the efficiency of pigment deposition, helping technicians effectively fill in sparse brows or cover areas with scar tissue.

Lash Line Saturation: PMU artists can use magnums in eyelash PMU procedures, specifically, for saturating the lash line with pigment. Their design allows technicians to achieve dense coverage, helping give the lash line a long-lasting and more defined look.

Body Art

Color Blending: Magnum needles are valued for their ability to blend pigment, a technique often used in body art. These needles can create smooth color transitions, allowing artists to shade portraits, add depth, and create stunning, realistic masterpieces.

Color Packing: Magnum needles are great for packing color into large areas. Their wide design enables artists to quickly, efficiently, and evenly fill spaces with pigment.

Realism Work: Magnum needles can be used to create realistic textures in body art. They’re ideal for smooth gradients and subtle color transitions, which are useful for drawing natural-looking skin tones, fur, and other elements.

Watercolor Techniques: Magnums can be used for striking body art with watercolor effects. Artists can effectively layer diluted colors for delicate-looking washes and create the ethereal effects commonly seen in watercolor paintings.

FAQs

Depending on the configuration size, each 3RL needle in the TriFlat™ series has diameters ranging from 0.18mm, 0.25mm and 0.30mm

For retail purchases, Grip Needles does not impose a minimum order requirement for buying 3RL hybrid needles.

Standard 3RL tattoo needles are often used for lining and stippling/shading. As a 3RL and flat hybrid, the TriFlat™ can be used to do the same techniques in less time and using less energy and effort. Because it is shaped like a flat, the TriFlat™ can produce multiple precise lines in a single pass, allowing you to cover specific areas in fewer passes. This makes it easier to stipple textures like pixels and fur or draw details like natural-looking hair strokes.
